AUDITIONS'FAME' the Musical

Cast Requirements FAME THE MUSICAL
Character Breakdown and AUDITION DETAILS
Please bring a theatrical resume with photograph attached.
All leads as listed below will be required to read from a script – sight
unseen;
Leads will all need to sing preferably the song listed. Otherwise they should
prepare their own choice of (contemporary pop) song; Please supply backing DVD
for the audition;
There will be a specialty dance audition for all Student Dancers – Diaz,
Jackson, Washington and Kelly.
All other cast will be required to attend the general dance audition except
Sherman, Myers and Sheinkopf.
Adult Cast
Miss Bell dance teacher, arty – emotional, caring; Needs to act, dance and
sing. Vocal range C4 to E5 (alto).
Dance background desirable. Song: The
Teacher’s Argument;
Miss Sherman English teacher, traditionalist – authoritative, preferably Afro
American;
Needs to act and sing. (soprano). Song:
These Are My Children;
Mr. Myers drama teacher, easy going- likeable. Needs to act and sing.
Mr. Sheinkopf music teacher, distinguished – serious, European accent. Needs
to act and sing.
Student Actors
Serena Katz: impressionable, insecure, shy – Jewish girl from Brooklyn. Needs
to act and sing.
Some chorus dance required; Song -
Let’s Play a Love Scene;
Joe Vegas: high energy, charming – class clown, Hispanic.
Needs to act, dance and sing (baritone or
tenor). Song – Can’t Keep it Down;
Nick Piazza: handsome, serious - confident.
Needs to act and sing. (tenor). Some
chorus dance required. Song – I Want to Make Magic;
Student Dancers
Carmen Diaz: Fiery, talented - Hispanic.
Needs to act, sing and dance. (soprano).
Song: – In LA and Fame;
*Tyrone Jackson: headstrong, a functional illiterate preferably Afro American.
Needs to act, sing and dance. (baritone).
Rap dancing desirable. Song– Dancing on the Sidewalk/ Tyrone’s Rap;
Mabel Washington: funny, plump, R&B preferably Afro American.
Needs to act, dance and sing. (soprano).
Song –Mabel’s Prayer;
Iris Kelly: well-to-do, haughty, classical dancer.
Needs to act and dance. Classical ballet
essential; pointe work desirable. Some chorus singing required;
Student Musicians
Grace Lamb: comic, confrontational, defensive;
Needs to act sing and play music. Drums
desirable. Some chorus dance required;
Goodman King: jazz musician. Needs to act sing and play music.
Trumpet desirable. Some chorus dance
required.
Schlomo Metzenbaum: affable, sensitive – Jewish.
Needs to act, sing and play music. (tenor). Violin and/or keyboard desirable.
Some chorus dance required. Song –

Kids from FAME Chorus
15-30 Students at P.A., who have lines and sing, and who constantly interact
and grow with the others.
Need to act (some parts), sing and dance.
All vocal ranges.
Should prepare: Vocal – own choice of (contemporary pop) song;
Must attend general dance audition.
Specialty Dancers who will be part of the FAME CHORUS
6 female and 6 male dancers - must attend the general dance and specialty dance audition
Need to Dance.
PERFORMANCES
An English Comedy by Michael Pertwee
