by Roald Dahl adapted by Richard George

James and the Giant Peach -a fantastical play for Children and Adults!

Don't miss Murwillumbah Theatre Company’s final production for the year - the popular children’s classic James and the Giant Peach, an amazing magical adventure for adults and children adapted from the novel by Roald Dahl opening on Friday October 23rd at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre.
The play tells the story of how James escapes from his miserable life with two nasty aunts by rolling away inside a giant peach and becomes a hero to his new insect family.

Roald Dahl, famous for his short stories for adults with unexpected endings, such as Tales of the Unexpected, My Uncle Oswald and Switch Bitch, is probably better known for his children's books such as The Twits, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The Witches. His children’s books are known for their unsentimental, often dark and macabre humour.

Colin Elliott directs James and the Giant Peach. Colin is a well-known face in MTC productions, last seen in Allo Allo as Colonel Von Strohm and before that as Alex in David Williamson’s Money and Friends. However, his most-loved role has been as the Bunyip (front end) in The Magic Rainforest and A Roomful of Magic. He previously directed Dimboola and The World Bra Unclipping Championships at Garimba for MTC

Ten year old, Koby L’Estrelle, plays James, the hero of the play. Koby has performed in several productions for Murwillumbah Theatre Company. He played the role of Nick in last year’s pantomime A Roomful of Magic and was an Elf in Rumpelstiltskin. Koby’s parents Deb and Stuart are also involved in the production – Stuart as the Glow worm and Deb as back stage assistant
