FEBRUARY 6th - 28th: Bell, Book and Candle (a witchy romance)

Directed By Peta Schulz

First premiered in 1950, Bell, Book and Candle is a witty romantic comedy that captures the glamorous New York City of the early 1950s. Written by British playwright John Van Druten, the play explores themes of magic, love, and self-discovery through the story of Gillian Holroyd, a free-spirited witch who subtly manipulates her romantic pursuits with her supernatural powers. Its humorous take on magical realism became an instant hit, later inspiring a popular 1958 film starring James Stewart and Kim Novak. This charming comedy remains a playful exploration of the collision between the mystical and the mundane.

Directed by Cee Campbell

Premiering in 1941, Arsenic and Old Lace is one of the most popular dark comedies of the American stage. Written by Joseph Kesselring during the early years of World War II, the play satirizes the contradictions of American morality through the story of two sweet-old-ladies, Martha and Abby Brewster, who secretly poison lonely old men with tainted elderberry wine. Its sharp humor and twisted characters turned it into a long-running hit, and it remains a staple of dark comedy theater today.
