NEXT TO NORMAL opens at Javenbah Theatre, Nerang on September 16th, 2022. This prize winning American rock musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt centres on a mother who struggles with worsening depression and the effects that managing her illness has on her family. Javeenbah Theatre is well known for producing knife cutting dramas and the family here are just part of the normal suburban cycle of life but they are anything but normal.
The diverse and talented cast (above) Rowena Orcullo Ryan (Diana Goodman), Lee Stoker (Dan Goodman), Yasmin Fitzgerald (Natalie Goodman), Peter Santos (Henry), Hunter Wall (Gabe Goodman) and Mitch Walsh (Dr Madden) are directed by the talented young Director Nathan French who has a wealth of theatrical experience and was winner of a GCTAI Outstanding Youth Award in 2021.
