The Gold Coast theatre Alliance proudly announces that soprano Deborah Joy Sykes will be a guest entertainer at the Alliance Breakfast on the 22 January 2023 at Sanctuary Cove. Deborah Joy has a passion for the creative arts and continues to perform in a variety of genre from the classical and opera, to jazz, evergreens, Broadway, popular music, theatre and musical theatre, as well as film and television. With a three and a half octave vocal range, and a Bachelor of Music in both Classical and Contemporary Vocal Performance, Deborah Joy's diverse abilities enable performances in a variety of music roles with varying vocal ranges. These have included various productions since moving to Qld from Sydney in such roles as: Queen of the Night in 'The Magic Flute', Rosalinda in 'Die Fledermaus', Gianetta in ‘The Gondoliers’, Yum Yum and Pitti-Sing in ‘The Mikado’ and Anita in 'West Side Story' - all with critical acclaim.
Deborah has sung as an International Artist in Europe and performed as a principle vocalist with the esteemed late Maestro Alessandro Allesandroni at the Villa de Lante, Bagnaia in Italy. She has performed with the innovative 'Underground Opera of Qld', ‘Opera Qld’, and with other professional companies and community theatres of the Gold Coast, along with performances in various concerts, fundraisers and privately commissioned in-house performances.
Deborah Joy is also a co-producer, director and performer in the very popular ‘Four Season Soirée’s’ which additionally supports and showcases the talent and gifts of various artists and artistic genres. Deborah is further involved in the new locally created film ‘Code Noir’ by film and theatre company Noah’s Productions which is in current editing with production aiming for the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
Currently President of the Gold Coast Theatre Alliance Inc. a position she has held for over 5 years Deborah Joy actively ‘promotes, engages and supports the diverse Regional Live Performing Arts Community on the Gold Coast Queensland and Northern NSW Australia’. The GCTAI thanks Deborah Joy for supporting our special Alliance Event Breakfast and the celebration of volunteers in the Arts Community.
